Shelf

The Shelf is a location where you can store and retrieve jobs, to and from the Desktop. When you first use Hoku, it has a few canned routines available for you to use. You can drag these routines to the Desktop, modify them, and store them back on the Shelf, under the same name, or under a different name to avoid overwriting the original.

The leftmost rectangular box starts with “/” followed by a name written in red text. That is the name of the currently visible folder on the Shelf. The top level folder, seen above, is named “shelf”. Any lower level folder names are chosen by the user. Additional folders will be shown in their own boxes to the right of the shelf-name box.

An item on the Shelf or the Desktop can be exported to a text file on your computer. That text file can be archived, or it can be distributed to others. Any exported item can be imported back onto the Shelf or the Desktop. Whole folders, and all of their contents, can be archived and/or imported.
