====== Modifications – Scale ====== Scale makes an image larger or smaller, either by a scale factor or to a size you give in pixels. Choose the "method" first: **scale** or **dimension**. ===== By scale factor ===== Set "method" to **scale** and enter one or two "factors" (x, y). A factor larger than 1.0 makes the image larger; a factor smaller than 1.0 makes it smaller. Factors can be whole or decimal numbers, but must be greater than 0. * With one factor, the same factor is used horizontally and vertically. * With two different factors, the output's aspect ratio is different from the input's. ===== By dimension ===== Set "method" to **dimension** and enter the "size" you want, in pixels (width, height). * With only one number, the output width and height are equal. * If the width and height you enter have a different aspect ratio from the input, the image is scaled by different amounts in the two directions. ===== Scaling method ===== Scale uses **nearest-neighbor** scaling by default. Choose **bilinear** for a noticeably smoother result. Scale works on byte, integer or floating-point images, and the output is the same type as the input.
